1 Timothy

These letters written by Paul to Timothy partly constitute what are generally termed the “pastoral” epistles, as they are written to individuals who have a role in guiding the early churches.

This first letter to Timothy was probably written around AD 66. The main theme of this first letter provides guidance on acceptable worship and correct organisation of the church, emphasising the role and responsibilities of certain members. In typical Paul fashion, he also provides encouragement to remain faithful amid surrounding errors.
