This second letter seems to have been written shortly before Peter’s death (2 Peter 1:15) and was a "reminder" to the readers to remain fervent and enthusiastic to the truth of the Gospel as opposed to false worship which was being spread by those who
sought to pervert the truth. Peter urges the reader to be stead fast even amidst persecution and reminds them that the God will always keep His promises.
