Daniel

The book of Daniel comprises 12 chapters which can be divided into 2 equal sections. The first 6 chapters are historical and personal and describe to us who Daniel was and some of the experiences of his life, including some extraordinary acts of courage, wisdom and faith. The main theme of this first section demonstrates that “God rules in the kingdoms of men” (Daniel 4:25) and shows to us the general course of events in world history leading towards the establishment of the kingdom of God upon the earth.

The remaining 6 chapters are detailed prophecies and describe in very pictorial language (similar to the book of Revelation) what was to happen to Jerusalem and Israel, culminating in divine judgment on the enemies of God’s people.
