Exodus

Exodus means “going out” or “departure”, and while it refers to the escape of the Israelites from Egypt, the book also covers other significant events such as the oppression of Israel in Egypt, the call of Moses as their leader and God’s covenant or promise to Israel at Sinai which culminated in the giving of the Ten Commandments by God to the people through Moses.

The latter part of Exodus also contains an elaborate and detailed account of the structure referred to as the Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle where God met with Israel through the work of the High Priest.
